Destruction of a Ka-52 near Robotyno is probably the first demonstration of the Swedish RBS-70 in action (video)

The Swedish RBS-70 MANPADS was probably first captured on video during a successful combat mission.

The Swedish-made man-portable air defense system was deployed to the Ukrainian Armed Forces in April, but there was no video of its use by the Armed Forces before then.

The video was published by Sternenko’s Telegram channel. Soldiers of the 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed a Russian Ka-52 attack helicopter near Robotyno, Zaporizhzhia region. The RBS-70 comes into view in the first seconds of the video.

The RBS 70 has a specific feature: the missile is guided not by a traditional system with an infrared homing head, but by the so-called “laser track”, when the missile flies in a guiding laser beam, and the operator accompanies the target until it is destroyed, ignoring heat traps, DEFENSE EXPRESS reports. It is worth noting the low visibility of the missile, which does not leave a jet trail and does not give away the launch site.
