Disguised from UAVs: a “hairy” UAZ has been spotted in the ranks of the Russian army
The British edition of The Telegraph ridiculed the Russian military for the funny disguise of their equipment from attacks by Ukrainian drones. The most sarcastic was the “hairy” UAZ.
To disguise the “loaf”, the Russians used improvised “screens” made of straw threads. This approach may be due to the desire to make the car less visible to thermal imagers.
Former British tank crew commander Hamish de Bretton-Gordon noted that such “hairiness” can only partially weaken the thermal signature and is unlikely to protect the equipment from the latest UAVs with thermal imaging sights.
The British expert’s colleagues believe that disguising military equipment as civilian and using so-called “thermal blankets” have a much greater effect than straw, which is easily inflammable.
