On September 18, unidentified saboteurs blew up AN-148 and IL-20 airplanes and a MI-28N helicopter at the Chkalovsky airfield near Moscow. A group of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation is investigating the sabotage.
This was reported by the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine.
It is noted that both planes belong to the 354th Special Forces Aviation Regiment, and the helicopter was previously actively involved in shooting down drones over the Moscow region.
“The incident caused a lot of hysteria in the highest military corridors – government aircraft, so-called “doomsday planes” and special aircraft are based at the airfield,” the intelligence officers noted.
It is specified that unknown persons planted explosives and blew up the equipment. Damage to the aircraft will not allow them to be restored quickly. An explosion damaged the tail section of the helicopter. At the same time, another AN-148 aircraft, which was next to the others, sustained minor damage.
It is emphasized that the punitive authorities of the Russian Federation are taking measures to search for saboteurs and limit the dissemination of this information in the local media.
