The meme cryptocurrency Dogecoin was created with Elon Musk’s money. Coingape journalists found a mention of this in an excerpt from the billionaire’s biography published by the WSJ. The author of the businessman’s biography is V. Isaacson.
Musk’s connection to the Dogecoin project came from his brother. The billionaire discussed with Kimball Musk the idea of creating a blockchain-based social platform. Users will be able to use it not only for communication but also for cryptocurrency transactions. Musk suggested that his brother use Dogecoin as a means of payment.
According to Isaacson, the billionaire acquired Twitter to implement this project. The day after he joined the company’s co-directors, Musk began discussing the future of the microblogging service as a payment system.
The entrepreneur has been promoting DOGE for several years. At one point, Tesla’s store offered merchandise that could be purchased exclusively for this cryptocurrency. In addition, DOGE accepted payments for SolarRoof, Starship, Starlink, and Supercharger charging stations.
