Drones blow up substation in Kursk region, leaving Russians without power
According to the governor, Roman Starovoit, the Ukrainian Armed Forces dropped explosives on the facility, and one worker was injured during the repairs.
On the night of June 7, drones damaged an electrical substation in the Kursk region, leaving local residents without power. The governor of the region, Roman Starovoit, said this in the morning on his Telegram channel.
According to the official, Ukrainian troops dropped two explosive devices on a substation in the village of Popovo-Lezhachi, Glushkovsky district, at night. As a result of the attack, the power grid was severely damaged, and power went out in Popovo-Lezhach and the neighboring village of Tiotkine.
The power engineers tried to repair the equipment, but during the work, one of them received shrapnel wounds, probably due to the detonation of one of the dropped munitions. The man was taken to the district hospital, where he is receiving medical care. Repair crews will continue repairs after the sappers check and clear the site of mines.
On May 23, in the Kursk region, drones carried out a similar attack on a substation in the Suzhansky district. Residents of three villages lost access to electricity as a result of the explosions: Plekhovo, Huyevo and Hornal.
Later, the Russians claimed to have shot down a British Malloy T150 drone in the Kursk region, which had been modified to drop munitions. An 82-mm mine was attached to it, as well as a repeater that communicates with the operator.
