Electric Volkswagen GTI presented (video)

Volkswagen presented the Volkswagen ID electric concept at the IAA Mobility 2023 exhibition. GTI, which aims to combine the 48-year history of the GTI with internal combustion engines with VW’s electric future.

Volkswagen ID. The GTI is reminiscent of the VW ID. 2all Concept that debuted earlier this year. The front and rear of the new concept have sportier cladding, and the wheels are borrowed from the Mk1 GTI.

At the moment, VW has only said that the car is based on a single-engine high-performance transmission with an electronic differential lock for the front wheels. Volkswagen ID. The GTI will offer a wide range of customization options through the GTI Experience Control system, which allows you to adjust everything from suspension to steering feel, sound, and even simulate gear changes like GTIs of decades past.

The digital interior of the VW ID. 2all Concept’s dual-screen digital interior remains unchanged, with an extended projection display allowing the route map to be projected in the lower corner of the windshield. Meanwhile, the passenger can track the lap time, which is also projected on the windshield. This was discussed on the example of the famous Nürburgring circuit.

It is not known whether the technology will be retained in the final version of the car, but Volkswagen says that an interior layout with a 12.9-inch center screen, a 10.9-inch driver screen, and a set of physical controls are in production.

According to the automaker, Volkswagen ID. The GTI is “the first look at the exciting future of the GTI since the decision was made to put it into production.” And although this concept is focused on performance, VW reminds us that it is still a practical hatchback that can accommodate five people and half a cubic meter of stuff in the trunk.

The car will be on display at the IAA Mobility 2023 exhibition this week.
