Elon Musk pollutes the atmosphere worse than showbiz stars

Its flights resulted in the emission of 5159 metric tons of CO2

Elon Musk is a very busy man, he runs six companies. His several private jets have made 441 flights this year. The need for traveling has increased since the acquisition of Twitter, so Musk sometimes sleeps in Tesla’s workshops in Texas and sometimes in SpaceX and X’s offices in California, moving between them. According to JetSpy, the billionaire’s planes have emitted approximately 5159 metric tons of CO2 over the past year.

Musk currently owns private jets Gulfstream G650ER and G550. Another G550 was registered with Falcon Landing LCC, a company associated with SpaceX and Tesla, in September 2021. This corporate jet was not included in the above statistics. Musk also ordered the recently released Gulfstream G700.

In 2023, the average flight time of two of Musk’s planes was more than two and a half hours. This year, Musk’s planes consumed 2,040,174 liters of fuel, costing more than $3.2 million to refuel. In general, there were fewer flights than last year. In 2022, they took off 739 times for 1865 hours.

According to the U.S. National Atmospheric Research Corporation, on average, each American produces about 16 tons of carbon dioxide per year.
