Elon Musk reacted to the FT’s information that Starlink stopped working on the battlefield

He stated that the US government paid his company only a small percentage of the Starlinks

The founder of SpaceX and Tesla, entrepreneur Elon Musk responded to an article published by the Financial Times, in which it is said that Starlink terminals provided to the Ukrainian military have stopped working in some areas of the front.

“This article falsely claims that the Starlink terminals and service were paid for, although only a small percentage of them were.

This operation cost SpaceX $80 million and will exceed $100 million by the end of the year,” he wrote on Twitter.

“As for what is happening on the battlefield, this information is classified,” he added.

FT reporters have received confirmation from Ukrainian officials and the military that the connection provided by the Starlink devices was indeed disappearing. This especially applied to those areas of the front where the Armed Forces launched a counteroffensive and advanced far enough into the occupied territory.

According to Roman Sinitsyn, a volunteer who supplies the Armed Forces with Starlinks, communication blackouts occurred in areas liberated from the Russians quite recently, so their liberation “has not yet been made public.”

“It is quite clear to me that Starlink representatives are doing this to prevent the use of their technology by the Russian occupation forces,” Sinitsyn said.

It will be recalled that this week Elon Musk caused outrage among Ukrainians and their allies by proposing to hold new referendums on the borders between Ukraine and Russia “under the supervision of the UN”. He also said that Ukraine should give Crimea to Russia and that, in his opinion, the Russian-speaking regions of eastern Ukraine “give preference to Russia.”
