Experts disassembled the Apple Vision Pro AR/VR headset and showed how the headset is arranged inside (video)

iFixit experts regularly disassemble electronic devices to show how they work and how they can be repaired on their YouTube channel. This time, they got their hands on the brand new Apple Vision Pro mixed reality headset, which went on sale in the US on February 2, 2024. During the disassembly, the internal layout of the device and its maintainability were assessed.

Inside the Vision Pro, there are numerous sensors, cameras, lens drives, fans, and much more, 9to5mac writes. Apple’s headset is one of the company’s most technologically advanced devices, so it’s no surprise that it will be very difficult to repair it yourself.

Also, we recommend reading Apple Vision Pro tested for durability – the device turned out to be quite durable, but it can break if dropped (video).

The EyeSight display is the Achilles’ heel in terms of maintainability” iFixit noted. At the same time, the company’s experts mentioned that Apple managed to arrange the internal elements of the headset in such a way that it was relatively easy to replace the battery and speakers. “We have to hand it to Apple: easily replaceable speakers and battery are a big win in terms of maintainability” iFixit said in a statement.

The Vision Pro is equipped with Apple’s proprietary 8-core M2 processor, 16 GB of RAM, and up to 1 TB of storage. The developers have equipped the device with an all-new R1 chip, which is designed to process data coming from 12 cameras, 5 sensors, and six microphones, as well as to provide the feeling that content appears right in front of the user’s eyes.

As a reminder, Vision Pro was launched in the US on February 2. Despite the fact that the new product costs from $3500 (which is expensive even for Americans), many pre-orders for the purchase of this novelty were placed before the start of sales. After the start of sales, those who want to try the device in practice can do so in one of the official Apple Stores in the United States.
