On Thursday, June 1, a powerful explosion occurred in Belgorod (Russia) in the area of Kharkiv Mountain at 16:33. This was reported by Baza media.
According to eyewitnesses and local telegram channels, a bomb fell in the city from a fighter jet or a jet drone. Shchorsa Street in the Kharkivska Hora neighborhood was blocked by security forces.
For some time there was no official information about what happened in the city. A little later, at 17:09, the governor of the Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, wrote on his telegram channel that an unknown device had exploded in the city. According to preliminary data, the UAV fell on the roadway.
According to the official, two people were injured. One man with a suspected concussion was taken by an ambulance to City Hospital #2. The second man refused to be hospitalized.
Emergency responders and employees of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation are working at the site of the UAV crash. In addition, the special services are currently checking information about the downing of another drone in Belgorod. According to preliminary reports, the second drone went down in the area of Kutuzova Street.
Russian media have already started publishing photos and videos from the site of the explosion in Belgorod. One of them shows that the shock wave smashed the windows of multi-storey buildings. And this is despite the fact that they are located 300 meters from the epicenter of the explosion.
At 17:06, it was reported that nine people had been injured in an explosion in the Kharkivska Hora area when a UAV crashed in Belgorod. Most of them received shrapnel wounds.
