F-16 Fighting Falcon fighters began patrolling the airspace of Slovakia

On September 1, Poland began patrolling the airspace of Slovakia, which refused to use Soviet MiG-29 aircraft.

Slovakia has given up the old fighter jets, which should be replaced by 14 new American F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft. These are the fighters of the Polish Air Force currently patrolling Slovak airspace. But MiG-29 worth $299 million can be transferred to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This was stated by the Minister of Defense Jaroslav Nad, but there are no concrete agreements between the states yet.

The Polish Ministry of Defense noted that F-16 Fighting Falcons will respond to air threats that will arise in the skies over Slovakia. The head of the department, Mariusz Blaszczak, emphasized that Poland will strengthen the defense capability of the neighboring country against the background of Russian aggression against Ukraine. In addition, Czech military aviation will also patrol Slovakia’s airspace.
