The Fiat family has an electric car that can be driven from the age of 14: the Topolino model will be of interest to adults, schoolchildren and students alike.
The two-seater Fiat has the same interior layout as the Citroen Ami, which is familiar to Europeans. It has a tubular chassis dressed in a livery of body panels. The baby is only 2.54 meters long and barely 1.4 meters wide.
The machine will be available with or without doors. It can be a sedan or convertible with a tarpaulin roof folding/unfolding system. The latter is very popular with young people who like to catch the oncoming air flow with their faces, which tousles and ruffles their hair so beautifully.
The empty machine weighs 487 kg. This weight of the vehicle falls under the category of “lightweight quad bike”, which becomes available for children from the age of 14 without a license or patent. However, training under the simplified “AM-permit” program is mandatory, meaning that you need to have a regular “road safety certificate”. It is issued after completing a short course of several hours of traffic rules.
It is powered by a permanent magnet synchronous motor that develops 8.2 hp. This is even half the power of a go-kart. Acceleration from 0 to the maximum speed of 45 km/h takes only 10 seconds. Experts have recognized this power range and speed barrier as safe.
The power unit is powered by a lithium-iron-phosphate battery (65 kg). The energy storage is located in the rear of the car and operates at 48 volts. Its power is 5.4 kWh, which is enough for a 75-kilometer range. Even in large cities, this range allows you to safely get to a month of school, college or university, or to work and back to the office.
There is no trunk in the Fiat Polino, but there is a place for a suitcase between the seats. As for charging, the electric car is recharged in 4 hours from a 220-volt household outlet.
And finally, the price. Fiat has not yet detailed the price, but experts are inclined to believe that the price tag for the Fiat Polino will be slightly less than 10,000 euros. However, there may be all sorts of bonuses and, probably, some tempting “packages” from the manufacturer and its dealers.
