“Ambulances will help Ukrainian medics evacuate wounded from the front line to the nearest medical facility

The first armored ambulance purchased with funds from the United24 initiative has arrived in Ukraine. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

A total of 13 such vehicles were purchased. It is noted that these ambulances will help Ukrainian medics evacuate the wounded from the front line to the nearest medical facility.

“Today Ukraine has received its first armored ambulance to evacuate the wounded. I am grateful to everyone who supports us in this difficult time of full-scale war. Your donations are important. Without exaggeration, they save the lives of Ukrainians. The armored ambulances will allow us to do this even more effectively, evacuating the wounded from the hottest spots of the frontline. In general, the number of such machines in the world is very limited, so they had to be specially made to order,” said Health Minister Viktor Lyashko.

The cost of such a car is UAH 9.5 million. A total of 13 such ambulances were purchased. All of them cost UAH 124 million.

It is noted that the vehicles are intended to evacuate the wounded from the front line to the nearest medical facility. Each vehicle is armored and meets NATO ballistic standards, namely STANAG 4569 Level II.

The Ministry of Health also noted that among the features of the transport are “car shoes,” i.e. tires.

“One of their characteristics is that they can run flat: in case of pressure loss, thanks to a special design, the speed varies from 50 to 150 km (depending on the weight of the vehicle and the quality of the road). In practice, in our reality, this means that if a tire gets punctured by a shrapnel, the ambulance will not be in the middle of a field under fire. In addition, these vehicles are four-wheel drive – they can drive on war-torn roads,” the statement said.

These armored ambulances were specially made to order in Canada. As soon as the rest of the cars in the batch are ready, they will be transported to Ukraine.
