FN Herstal presents a new version of the third generation handgun FN Minimi 7.62 Mk3

FN Herstal has introduced a new variant of its FN Minimi handgun to meet the needs of armed forces around the world. The FN Minimi, standardized in many armies, including NATO member states, is widely recognized for its combat effectiveness and reliability.

The third-generation FN Minimi 7.62 Mk3 handgun combines power and lightness with significant improvements in ergonomics and mobility. This weapon is known for its proven reliability in numerous combat situations.

The new configuration of the FN Minimi Mk3 includes a stern cover and a long top rail with 23 slots. This one-piece guide allows for the mounting of two optics, giving users more flexible changes. For example, daytime optics without magnification can be combined with a magnifying scope or daytime optics with night vision optics, providing increased accuracy and reliability during missions.

The new variant replaces the standard adjustable front sight with a non-adjustable hinged front sight and includes a latch that holds the cover open during charging or safety operations. This feature compensates for the weight of the optics, ensuring safe and efficient handling.

The new machine gun is equipped with an adjustable stock with five length adjustment positions and six buttstock height adjustment positions, as well as a hydraulic buffer to reduce recoil. The bipods integrated into the forend remain usable even with the accessory mounted on the lower rail. The cocking handle allows the weapon to be cocked with both hands, and the feeding tray with belt locking dogs facilitates one-handed loading.

The FN Minimi 7.62 Mk3 is standardized with a 422 mm barrel. It is available in several variants, including a tactical version with an adjustable stock, a telescopic stock, and a standard version with a fixed stock. In addition, a conversion kit is available to fire NATO 5.56×45 mm ammunition.

The weapon operates on the principle of a rotating gas bolt and has a length of 1026 mm in the extended state and 950 mm in the folded state. The machine gun weighs approximately 8.8 kg and has a cyclic rate of fire of approximately 800 rounds per minute.
