Footage of a new world record in Formula 1: McLaren sets fastest pit stop time

At the Qatar Grand Prix, the McLaren team broke the world record for the fastest pit stop in Formula 1. The mechanics managed to change the tires in just 1.8 seconds.

The Qatar Grand Prix will be remembered by fans not only for Max Verstappen’s third championship title, but also for other interesting moments. Among them is the pit stop of Lando Norris from the McLaren team on the 27th lap of the race.

In 2019, at the Brazilian Grand Prix, Red Bull serviced Max Verstappen’s car in just 1.82 seconds. Only four years later, McLaren managed to break this record.

Interestingly, Pirelli tires became larger and heavier a few years ago. The FIA has also taken various measures to slow down the work of mechanic teams for safety reasons.

Lando Norris managed to finish in third place at the Qatar Grand Prix. He started the race in 10th position.

“It’s a fantastic day for the team as we take our 500th podium in Formula 1,” said McLaren team principal Andrea Stella.
