About a month after SpaceX sent their first text message using the Starlink direct communication satellite in space, Elon Musk’s company announced that for the first time, they can publish posts on the X platform (formerly known as Twitter) using a mobile phone using their own satellite services.

SpaceX aims to offer global mobile communications and plans to launch its Direct to Cell service for customers this year. Musk retweeted SpaceX’s post, adding that no special equipment was used for the connection, except for a cell phone and a satellite.
The development is a significant step forward in SpaceX’s ambitious plan to expand mobile coverage to remote locations throughout the United States and its territorial waters. The company has even started advertising its Direct to Cell satellite service on its website, promising text messaging services starting in 2024, and voice and data services in 2025.
