For the second time in a month, Germany donates military equipment and weapons to the Ukrainian Armed Forces

On February 26, the German government website published another list of aid to Ukraine, including military and humanitarian equipment, various types of weapons, ammunition, and ammunition.

As with previous aid packages, this one includes military support in the form of funding for the purchase of weapons and other industrial products, as well as from the reserve in the Bundeswehr’s warehouses.

The transportation segment included four Wisent 1 demining vehicles, three mobile remote-controlled and protected demining systems, four patrol vehicles and ten armored Bergepanzer 2 repair and recovery vehicles.

The aforementioned demining vehicles and armored repair and evacuation vehicles BREM are based on the Leopard tank chassis. The chassis is completely identical to the tank, the only difference being the absence of a turret with a cannon and a large-caliber machine gun.

While the BREM still has specific features of an engineering vehicle, designed to repair and evacuate heavy wheeled and tracked vehicles, the Wisent, depending on the modification, can be either an engineering fortification vehicle or an engineer vehicle.

In the current aid package, we are talking about the Wisent 1 demining machine with the letter index MC. There are also ARV modifications with a powerful crane boom and AEV with an excavating tool.

All three versions are manufactured by Flensburger Fahrzeugbau Gesellschaft (FFG). The Defense Forces already have a demining vehicle that has proven itself in pyrotechnic operations and which we have written about many times. This is a fairly powerful 40-ton machine with a power potential of 951 hp diesel engine.

With a 3.5-meter-wide front mine blade, the vehicle not only clears the way for assault troops, but also marks the edges with a lane marking system. This allows personnel, tanks and armored personnel carriers to safely move forward through the cleared lanes and develop their offensive.

By the way, the training of the crews, which Germany has prepared in its training centers, is also of great importance here.

As for the BREM, or Bergepanzer 2 armored repair and recovery vehicles, it is both a repairman and a tow truck. With a powerful engine of 830 hp, this field operator is unified with the Leopard by a good 75%. It has the same level of hull and crew protection as the base tank. While the frontal part of the body protects against direct hits, the slightly thinner side panels provide good protection against small-caliber shells, bullets and fragments.

The new package also includes 147 night vision devices, 10 Vector HD-40LV reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicles with laser rangefinders and spare parts, 12 SatCom satellite communication terminals and 22 anti-drone systems for drone detection and suppression.

The current tranche of aid includes 14,000 155 mm artillery rounds, which will also reinforce the previously transferred (February 16) stockpile of howitzers, anti-aircraft systems and ammunition.
