Ford is ending production of its most popular model
The decision was made to end production of the Ford Fiesta.
Production of the Ford Fiesta will end in 2023, along with the S-Max and Galaxy minivans.
Ford Motor Company is ending production of the Fiesta, which has been in production since 1976. The compact hatchback, which is produced at the assembly plant in Cologne, Germany, will leave the assembly line for good in June 2023.
The Dearborn-based automaker will also ditch the S-Max and Galaxy, two minivans that have lost popularity due to the influx of crossovers. Both models, which are built at the Valencia assembly plant in Spain, will be phased out in April 23 in favor of a hybrid powertrain and increased battery production.
It will be recalled that Ford of Europe intends to switch to fully electric vehicles by the end of the decade.
