Galaxy S24 outperforms iPhone 15 in 5G data transfer speeds
Ookla, a company specializing in network infrastructure analytics, has published a report on the 5G network speed of Samsung Galaxy S24 series smartphones. As it turned out, Samsung’s current flagships outperform not only previous Galaxy S series models but also the iPhone 15 family in terms of data transfer speed in 5G networks.
Ookla shared the latest test results in a blog post. The firm collected data from February 1 to March 24 in Asia Pacific, the Middle East and Africa, Europe, and North America and specifically compared the Galaxy S24 line (and earlier devices) to the iPhone 15.
Ookla says that “the Samsung Galaxy S24 family demonstrated statistically significant leadership in average 5G download speeds in seven of the 15 countries in this study.”
The iPhone 15 family did rank first in terms of average 5G speeds in one country, and Ookla emphasizes “that the speed differences between Galaxy S24 and iPhone 15 devices were relatively minor in some of the countries analyzed.” But in general, S24 devices are ahead of iPhone 15 smartphones.
In the US, S24 devices had an average speed of 34 Mbps faster than the iPhone 15 line:
The iPhone 15 family was in fourth place in Hong Kong with S24 devices, which have an average speed of more than 20 Mbps faster:
In the UAE, the S24 family was only 9 Mbps ahead of the iPhone 15:
In the UK, new Samsung smartphones had a median speed of 18 Mbps:
