Germany starts mass confiscation of cars from Russians

In Germany, cars with Russian license plates have begun to be confiscated en masse. The customs officials there refer to the rules introduced by Berlin last year as sanctions against the aggressor country that unleashed a full-scale war in Ukraine.

This is reported by the Russian media, to which “offended” Russian motorists are turning. For example, a married couple with children from St. Petersburg spent a long trip across Europe, and when they passed through Germany, they were forced to say goodbye to their car.

“We were driving through Germany toward Scandinavia when a car overtook us on the highway outside Hamburg, and a hand with a baton stuck out, and a Follow me sign lit up on the rear window,” Serhiy said.

The German customs officers told the stunned Russians about the sanctions and the embargo, then added that the car was being taken away. His personal belongings, children and wife were unloaded with Serhiy right on the road, and the Audi with St. Petersburg license plates was put on a tow truck and taken away.

“After getting over the shock, Sergey got in touch with the Russian consulate in Berlin. They helped him get in touch with customs officials and offered to send the papers that the Germans would issue to ensure translation and tell him whether to sign them or not. But they could not help with anything else,” Russian media reported.

It is emphasized that the incident with the St. Petersburg residents is not the only one over the past month. Representatives of diplomatic missions are forced to shrug their shoulders in response to all appeals.

Earlier, German Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development Svenja Schulze announced the restoration of Ukraine, whose infrastructure was destroyed by the occupying army at the expense of the Russians.

“But we need to do everything we can to achieve this because they have destroyed so many things. They destroyed all the infrastructure, they destroyed houses, and they have to pay for it. And this should be part of the negotiations to end the war,” the German politician emphasized.
