Germany to hand over six Sea King Mk41 helicopters to Ukraine
Germany plans to supply the Armed Forces of Ukraine with Sea King helicopters in the Mk41 modification.
The German Defense Minister shared this information during a regular meeting of the Ramstein Contact Group. We are talking about six decommissioned helicopters. Germany will also train pilots. There is no information yet on when the equipment will be delivered. By the way, the Ukrainian Armed Forces already have three Sea King helicopters in service. They were transferred to Ukraine by the United Kingdom in 2022-2023.
The Sea King was developed by the American company Sikorsky Aircraft, but the helicopter was also produced under license in the UK. Germany received 22 Sea King Mk41 helicopters from Westland Helicopters in 1974. In the 80s, they were modernized. The German army used the Sea King Mk41 for search and rescue, cargo transportation, disaster relief, evacuation, reconnaissance, and maritime support.
