The United States is in close cooperation with China on all issues related to the imposition of sanctions against Russia.
This was stated by Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Jeffrey Payette, RBC-Ukraine reports citing his video briefing.
According to him, the United States also regularly informs its Chinese partners about changes in the situation with the price ceiling for oil from Russia.
“I would just say that we are in very intense cooperation with our Chinese allies on all of these issues around the price ceiling and the sanctions regime against Russia,” the US Assistant Secretary of State said.
Embargo on Russian oil
Due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the European Union and its partners have imposed an embargo on imports of marine oil from Russia since December 5, 2022. In addition, the G7 countries and Australia have introduced a price ceiling of $60 per barrel for Russian oil.
The United States has also recently imposed new sanctions, which were caused by violations of the price ceiling on the sale of Russian oil.
Later, it was reported that Russia was circumventing sanctions and the US price cap on oil sales, forcing Western countries to look for ways to strengthen one of their key economic restrictions against the aggressor country.
