Google has upgraded Bard – support for extensions (Gmail, YouTube, etc.), fact-checking, and extended Ukrainianization

Bard is now integrated with Google apps and services, which will enable it to provide more accurate answers – with the ability to fact-check over the network.

The chatbot also accepts requests with images (using Google Lens) and provides media answers using Google Search. Chatbot responses can be customized to make them shorter, longer, simpler, less formal, more professional, etc. (these features were previously available in the English version and are now being extended to more than 40 new languages and countries, including Ukraine).

Another update is the Bard Extensions tool in English, which will help you find information from Google apps such as Gmail, Docs, Drive, Maps, YouTube, Google Flights, and Hotels.

“For example, if you’re planning a trip, you can now ask Bard to pick dates from Gmail that work for everyone, see real-time flight and hotel information, see routes on Google Maps, and even watch YouTube videos about things to do in that location-all within the same conversation,” Google says in a blog post.

Google emphasizes that when you use Workspace extensions, your data from Gmail, Docs, and Drive will not be available to reviewers and will not be used by Bard to show ads or train the language model.

Starting today, you can check Bard’s responses to inquiries in English by clicking on the “G” icon and the chatbot will assess whether the information is confirmed on the Internet.

Also, now when someone shares a public link to a conversation with Bard, you can continue the topic in your own chat and ask additional questions. The option is available in Ukrainian, among other languages.
