Google is declared bankrupt in Russia
In Russia, the Moscow Arbitration Court has declared Google’s Russian subsidiary, Google LLC, bankrupt, Liga reports citing RIA Novosti.
In November 2022, the Ninth Arbitration Court of Appeal initiated initial bankruptcy proceedings at Google on the company’s own motion.
Creditors have filed claims against the company, with the amount of claims amounting to about 53.6 billion rubles ($5.5 million). The Tsargrad media holding is demanding about 32.8 billion rubles.
Restrictions on the use of funds by court order are also explained by the fact that the Russian subsidiary blocked YouTube channels of Russian users.
In August, Google began massive blocking of Google Workspace corporate services, such as corporate email, Google Docs, Google Drive, and many others, for Russian companies under sanctions.
