Google releases Chrome for Snapdragon laptops, promising speed and efficiency

Google has announced the release of a new version of its Chrome browser, specially adapted for laptops running on Qualcomm Snapdragon processors. The release of this version of the browser, according to the companies, has led to a significant increase in performance. The new Chrome is now available for download.

This announcement is especially important given the upcoming release of laptops with Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon X Elite chip. According to Qualcomm, this chip will provide significant speed improvements over the current Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 model, but the new Chrome will also support existing Snapdragon devices.

Google Senior Vice President Hiroshi Lockheimer noted that the longstanding cooperation between Google and Qualcomm, especially in the field of Android, is now contributing to the development of innovations in the world of Snapdragon-based Windows laptops. He emphasized that this cooperation will help to ensure excellent web browsing conditions on modern ARM-compatible PCs.

The first laptops based on the Snapdragon X Elite chip are expected to hit the market in the middle of this year. Qualcomm promises that the new chip, manufactured using TSMC’s 4nm technology, will have double the performance of the 13th generation Intel Core i7-1360P and i7-1355U processors while consuming 68% less power. An important advantage of the Snapdragon X Elite is its ability to run most Windows games at almost full speed without the need to modify code or resources.

This move by Qualcomm and Google demonstrates their ambition to compete not only with Intel but also with Apple in the high-performance, energy-efficient laptop chip segment by trying to offer innovative solutions on a variety of hardware from different manufacturers.
