Google terminates contract with Appen, which helped with Bard training
Google has announced the termination of cooperation with Appen, one of the largest AI training providers in the world.
This was reported by The Verge.
Appen, which is headquartered in Australia, has been involved in training large-scale artificial intelligence language models that formed the basis of the Bard chatbot, a new search platform, and other Google products.
Appen notified the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX), noting that it was “unaware of Google’s decision to terminate the contract”. The company also stated that it continues to cooperate with Microsoft, Meta, and Amazon in the field of AI training.
In a report to the ASX, the company noted that cooperation with Google had a strong impact on its profits. Google added that it is now working closely with Appen to make the transition “as smooth as possible.”
