Hermes 900 is the first ever drone certified for civil and military operations
Israeli company Elbit System has presented a civilian version of the Hermes 900 military drone. It was named Hermes 900 Starliner.
The manufacturer brought a new unmanned aerial vehicle to the Paris Air Show. The company claims that Hermes is the world’s first drone to receive both military and civilian certifications. In addition, it can carry out maritime patrol missions on behalf of naval forces or civilian agencies.
Speaking to journalists, Elbit System representatives said that the company has sold more than 120 Hermes drones to 900 foreign customers. The manufacturer calls it the most efficient drone of the MALE (Medium Altitude Long Endurance) class.
The Starliner version is designed to operate in civilian airspace. This modification of the drone can be used for anything. For example, to help extinguish fires. It took Elbit System more than six years to obtain the relevant certificate.
