How a plane from the 70s outshot all modern fighters of the US Air Force

The US has confirmed that the F-15EX Eagle II can function as a long-range combat system

The F-15EX Eagle II fighter in terms of range can outshoot all other fighters in the arsenal of the US Air Force. This conclusion was made by members of the group of the 6th division of the US Air Force Operational Test and Evaluation Center, which recently analyzed the first two experimental and operational tests of the F-15EX Eagle II fighter.

So, engineers and analysts from the 6th unit went to Eglin Air Force Base and Tyndall Air Force Base to get the results of the AIM-120D and AIM-120C3 missile launches – these shots were fired during the aircraft’s tests on January 25 of this year and demonstrated how F -15EX can be used in a theater of war.

It is noted that one of the main conclusions from these combat firings is that the jet can function as a long-range combat system. This was noted by Captain Max Denbin, the group’s lead test engineer.

‘The F-15EX can fire from a significantly longer range – further than any other fighter in the US Air Force arsenal – and has the unique ability to carry 12 AMRAAMs or other large munitions at once,’ – he noted.

This aircraft’s long-range potential is a fundamental pillar of ensuring US power projection on a global scale. ‘As adversaries continue to build up their warfighting capabilities, counter-capable weapon systems like EX will be critical to maintaining tactical superiority,’ says Denbin.
