Humane AI officially presents its smartphone without a screen (photo)
The Humane AI startup has officially presented its first product, the AI Pin screenless smartphone. The company announced this on its website.
This pocket-sized AI assistant can perform the tasks of modern smartphones and digital assistants, working with voice commands and a virtual screen on the user’s hand. The device costs $700, plus $24 per month for the Humane subscription, which includes a dedicated phone number for AI Pin. The AI assistant will be available in three colors – Eclipse, Equinox, and Lunar – and will have a magnetic clip for attachment to clothing.
In addition, the clip serves as a double battery storage and includes a pair of backup batteries that users can keep with them.
AI Pin is equipped with an ultra-wide-angle RGB camera, depth and motion sensors that allow the device to “see the world as a human sees it.” It will be powered by a Snapdragon processor with Qualcomm AI Engine software, and its operating system will be Cosmos OS. The company cooperates with Microsoft and OpenAI to provide AI Pin with access to powerful AI models.
However, it is not yet known how long the battery lasts and how secure the device is against unauthorized access. Until now, real-time demonstrations of the technology’s functions have been rare, and practical uses have not yet been shown.
AI Pin will go on sale in early 2024.
