In a new package of sanctions, the EU will ban the export of laptops and cameras to the Russian Federation
The new, ninth package of European Union sanctions against Russia in connection with the full-scale invasion of Ukraine is aimed at undermining the Russian military-industrial complex and will affect a number of branches of Russian industry.
The Politico publication, which has the draft restrictive measures at its disposal, writes about the details of the EU sanctions, “European Truth” reports.
The European Commission proposed expanding the sanctions list to include 169 organizations that supply Russia with goods “that can contribute to the technological improvement of the Russian defense and security sector.”
As for export controls, it is proposed to apply to drone engines, chemical and biological equipment, riot control equipment and electronic components.
The EU also wants to expand the list of sanctioned aviation and space goods to include aircraft engines and their parts, as well as “laptops, hard drives, cameras and lenses”.
In a separate document detailing the list of new organizations that are subject to sanctions, the broadcasting licenses for the Russian channels NTV/NTV Mir, Rossiya 1, REN TV and Channel One are expected to be suspended.
Another document proposes sanctions against several Russian military formations, in particular the commander of the neo-Nazi group “Rusich” Yan Petrovskyi, which maintains close ties with PMK “Wagner”.
Currently, EU permanent representatives are discussing a list of new sanctions; they are expected to be agreed and approved this week or early next. Earlier it became known that Hungary opposed the planned new package of anti-Russian sanctions.
On December 7, on Wednesday, the European Commission announced the ninth package of sanctions against Russia for the war it unleashed, which it proposes to member countries to approve.
About 200 individuals and companies are proposed to be added to the sanctions list, including military personnel, representatives of the defense industry, members of the State Duma and the Federation Council, ministers, governors and politicians.
The European Commission proposes sanctions against three more Russian banks and additional export restrictions on dual-purpose goods, and has also prepared measures to make it more difficult for Russia to access drones.
