In early September, Ukraine plans to launch a portal that will allow citizens to report corruption cases

In early September, the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption intends to launch a special portal where whistleblowers will be able to anonymously report corruption.

This was stated by NACP Chairman Oleksandr Novikov on the air of the United News telethon, Ukrinform reports.

“In September, we hope, the National Agency will launch a whistleblower portal. This is a special resource that will allow employees of organizations to send anonymous reports about corruption in their organizations, which will be received by the organization’s managers or corruption prevention commissioners, as well as special entities – NABU, SBI, the National Agency, the National Police,” he said.

The NACP head added that this will enable anonymous whistleblowers to receive 10% of the subject of a corruption offense after a court decision.

Novikov assures that the portal will be the most modern in the world, as it takes into account EU recommendations and the experience of other countries in building interaction with whistleblowers.

“The culture of whistleblowing is very important, because without responsible citizens, such as whistleblowers, we will not build zero tolerance to corruption,” he emphasized.

At the same time, Novikov noted that the High Anti-Corruption Court is currently considering a case in which the NACP expects to receive a verdict, after which it will pay the first reward to a whistleblower in the history of Ukraine.

He reminded that the remuneration is limited by law to 10% of the subject matter of the proceedings, but cannot exceed UAH 14 million.

The NACP head added that the amount of remuneration should be maximized in the cases currently being considered by the HACC.

Whether this will lead to a real fight against corruption in Ukraine is, of course, a rhetorical question.
