In July, Ukrainian air defense destroyed more than 70% of Russian UAVs and missiles, including Kalibr, X-101/555, and Kinzhal.
In July, Ukraine’s air defense system neutralized more than 70% of Russian air targets, including 206 Shahed attack UAVs, 39 Kalibr cruise missiles, 37 X-101/555 cruise missiles, and 2 Kinzhal hypersonic missiles.
The monitoring group @war_monitor has released statistics on Russia’s shelling of Ukraine for July 2023.
It is known that from July 1 to July 31, 415 munitions were fired at Ukrainian territory, including 150 missiles and 265 Shahed kamikaze UAVs. Ukraine’s air defense system successfully destroyed 206 of these UAVs (77.74%), 39 of 54 Kalibr cruise missiles (72.22%), 37 of 41 X-101/555 missiles (90.24%), and 2 of 4 Kinzhal hypersonic missiles (50%).
Russia also used 20 Oniks supersonic missiles and 17 X-22 hypersonic missiles against Ukraine, which, unfortunately, were not shot down.
The overall efficiency of Ukrainian air defense forces reaches more than 70%. The decline in effectiveness is due to Russia’s use of supersonic missiles Oniks, X-22, Kinzhal, and Kalibr, which are launched from submarines. Unfortunately, Ukraine has very few means to shoot down these missiles, and these means cover only Kyiv and some very important areas. Ukraine needs dozens and hundreds of Patriot, IRIS-T and NASAMS batteries, given the vast territory of the country. Currently, Ukraine has only a few units of these advanced air defense systems in service.
