In just three hours: Ukraine produces Cobra riveted steel strike UAVs.

Ukrainian engineers have developed and launched the production of Cobra airplane-type attack drones. The drone has a metal body made of riveted steel. This technology has simplified and reduced the cost of UAV production.

The body of the Cobra UAV is made using the same technology as the airplane body. This allows to increase the speed and reduce the cost of drone production. Although lighter materials such as wood, foam, or composites are commonly used to manufacture drones, engineers were able to achieve a significant advantage by using riveted steel.

The production of one drone takes only three hours, which is a very fast and efficient process. At the same time, the design of the drone can be changed in a few days to give it other sizes, shapes or patterns.

The engine, propeller and electronics for Cobra are manufactured in Ukraine, which reduces production costs and logistics risks. The engineers are already using domestic engines, injectors and servos and plan to get sensors, controllers, communication and navigation equipment in the near future.

The Cobra drone has a three-meter wingspan and a length of two meters, a takeoff weight of 40 kg, of which 15 kg is the payload, and is launched from a catapult.

The main function of the drone is to destroy enemy targets, for this purpose it is equipped with a powerful engine capable of carrying ammunition over a distance of more than 300 km. The drone’s speed reaches 150 km/h.

The Cobra drone can operate in autonomous mode, i.e., it can independently determine the route and the target to be reached. This reduces the likelihood of errors when controlling the drone and increases its effectiveness in combat conditions.
