In response to Russia’s actions: France tests nuclear missile

The French Air Force tested a modernized ASMP-A nuclear missile, which was launched from a Rafale fighter jet.

This was announced by the Minister of Defense of France, Sébastien Lecornu.

The test took place as part of Operation Durandal, which was aimed at conducting a test launch of a missile without a payload.

The ASMP-A missile is a modernized version of the ASMP missile, on the basis of which it was developed. The maximum flight range is approximately 500 km, and its payload is a 300-kiloton TNA warhead.

The missile is one of the components of France’s nuclear deterrent, along with M51 ballistic missiles for submarines.

This test demonstrated the reliability of the product and was the 22nd successful test launch of the ASMP-A missile.

Today, the missile is part of the French Air Force at the Bush du Rhône (125), Haute-Marne (113) and Cher (702) air bases.

In addition, the missile is used by the 12th Squadron of French naval aviation, which is partially subordinated to the naval nuclear forces.

At the same time, France is developing a new version of a nuclear-tipped missile, which has been designated ASN4G.

Earlier, Militarnyi reported that France was launching a new program to produce new-generation nuclear warheads and resuming tritium production.

Tritium production is primarily associated with an increase in the number of nuclear warheads.
