In the UAE, New Year’s Eve turned into setting two Guinness World Records at once (video)
Two Guinness World Records were broken in the capital of the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, UAE: “The longest chain of floating fireworks on water” with a total length of 5.8 km and “The longest line of drones” with a total length of 2 km. The audience saw a spectacular eight-minute show.
This was reported by The Mirror.
For the exciting event, innovative techniques were used with 1050 LED drones, a “carpet” of floating fireworks and acrobatic pyroplanes. Elements of the show were inspired by the natural wonders of Ras al-Khaimah – the desert, sea and mountains.
When the clock struck midnight, the 5-kilometer coastline turned into a canvas of lights and colors. The eight-minute screening captivated the crowd, and more than 50 thousand viewers witnessed the event.
This celebration marks the fifth consecutive attempt by the emirate to break Guinness World Records on New Year’s Eve, and also emphasizes the development of Ras Al Khaimah as a leading tourist destination. 2023 was an exceptional year for tourism: the emirate was on track to exceed its annual visitor record from 2022 by an impressive 7%.
