iPhone will start supporting satellite internet
Smartphones from the current iPhone 14 lineup have received the Emergency SOS feature. It allows you to call emergency services via satellite. Emergency SOS is especially relevant in the mountains, forest, or at sea, as there are no base stations there.
The feature was launched by a North American corporation in partnership with Globalstar. It acts as a satellite operator. Not so long ago, the company’s management hinted in a statement to the FCC that the iPhone would support satellite internet.
This follows Starlink’s announcement of a partnership with T-Mobile, under which the operator’s subscribers will have access to satellite communications. According to T-Mobile’s announcement, none of the mobile devices on the market can boast of satellite support. Globalstar claims that this is not the case. The MSS network it owns enables consumer mobile devices to connect directly to satellite vehicles.
The company intends to improve MSS so that owners of consumer gadgets can use satellite Internet services.
