Iran has blocked the Starlink website after Elon Musk activated satellite internet in the country

On September 26, Elon Musk announced that he would activate Starlink in Iran in response to US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken’s tweet about issuing a general license to provide internet to the Iranian people. After that, the Iranian government blocked the official website of SpaceX Starlink.

The country’s authorities are trying to stop mass protests by residents, which arose as a result of the death of Mahsa Amini, a girl who was arrested by the national ‘morality police’ for wearing the headscarf incorrectly.

According to the police, Mahsa died of heart failure. However, witnesses saw how the girl was beaten and hit her head against the side of a police car. Medical images leaked to the public also showed that she had suffered a brain hemorrhage and a stroke.

In response to the issuance by the US Treasury of a general license to support Internet freedom in the country, an official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran said that this is an attempt to ‘violate the sovereignty of Iran’ and that it will not go unanswered.

Help from Elon Musk has already been answered by blocking the Starlink website.

The Iranian government has also blocked its citizens’ access to LinkedIn and jammed the satellite signal to restrict citizens from viewing the Iran International channel.

Along with Elon Musk, Starlink and other members of the international community, Iran’s exiled Prince Reza Pahlavi is also supporting the citizens and trying to reach out to the military:

“You swore to protect your people and territory. People say they don’t want to take revenge on you, the military. Join us and protect the people from our inner enemy.’
