Iran has created a new “shahed” for Russia with a range of 1500 km – Sky News
Iran has developed a new Shahed-107 strike drone for Russia’s war in Ukraine and is probably close to providing Russia with surface-to-surface missiles.
This was reported by Sky News with reference to sources.
“The Shahed-107 has been described as an ‘explosive and reconnaissance’ drone, possibly equipped with technology to find important combat targets such as British and American multiple launch rocket systems used by Ukrainian forces,” the report said.
It is noted that the new Shahed-107 drone belongs to the Shahed-101 family of unmanned aerial vehicles with V-shaped plumage. It is about 2.5 meters long and has a wingspan of three meters. It can be launched from a vehicle and, according to the source, will have a range of up to 1500 km.
It is expected to be equipped with a transmitter for video transmission. Such reconnaissance capabilities mean that the drone can be used to identify targets on the Ukrainian front line for other UAVs or weapons systems to engage.
“According to reliable information, it seems that Iran and Russia have extended the arms deal, and Russia is expecting to receive precision surface-to-surface missile systems soon,” the source also said.
