Kamikaze drone hits a rare Russian Armed Forces complex “Aistenok” near Zaporizhzhia (video)

The station helped the occupiers search for and destroy positions from which the Ukrainian Armed Forces were firing mortars, grenade launchers and artillery pieces.

The Ukrainian military used a kamikaze drone to destroy the Russian Aistenok radar in Zaporizhzhia region. This was reported on Telegram by Servant of the People MP Yuriy Mysyagin, deputy chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence.

The video, posted on Twitter by a Ukrainian volunteer named Konstantin, shows an FPV drone flying up to a five-story residential building and crashing into an antenna. According to the lawmaker, the Ukrainian armed forces conducted a successful attack in the village of Nesterianka, located about 42 km from Zaporizhzhia.

The target of the kamikaze drone was the Russian counter-battery radar 1L271 “Aistenok” manufactured by the Strelka Research and Production Association, part of the Almaz-Antey concern. According to Rosoboronexport on its website, this is an electronic scanning radar designed to reconnoiter firing positions, search for ground targets (tanks or MLRS), control the firing of 122-155 mm artillery pieces, and detect 12 mm mortars and automatic grenade launchers along the flight path.

According to the Russian media, Aistenok automatically calculates the type of ammunition, its trajectory, launch location, and hit with an accuracy of 30-40 meters. The data is transmitted to the nearest unit of Russian troops, which can return fire within 10 minutes of detecting the Ukrainian positions. The Russians claim that the system works in any weather, despite rain, fog, blizzard or smoke.

The Aistenok complex consists of a receiver with an antenna, a control panel, a support and rotary device on a tripod, a primary information processing unit, a radio station, and an electrical unit connected by cables. The equipment is easy to carry and assemble in 5 minutes, and requires three people to operate. All information is displayed on the color display of the control panel.

Specifications of the Leleka radar

  • Antenna observation sector: 60 degrees;
  • Range of reconnaissance of firing positions and fire control: from 200 m to 20 km;
  • Range of artillery fire adjustment: 10 km;
  • Battery life: 6 hours;
  • Weight: 135 kg.

Earlier, the Armed Forces of Ukraine spotted the latest Russian radar “Repeynik” in Ukraine. This equipment can detect Ukrainian UAVs and suppress them with directed radiation.

It was also written that in early March, the Prima intelligence radar station was deployed in Moscow. It is supposed to strengthen the air defense of the Russian capital.
