Kursk reports a drone hit a high-rise building

The Russian military and officials reported “attempted attacks” by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in the Kursk and Bryansk regions, located near the border with Ukraine. According to the press service of the Russian Ministry of Defense, on the night of Sunday, August 27, the territory of these two Russian regions was attacked by two Ukrainian aircraft-type UAVs, which were detected and destroyed in flight.

However, later, the governor of the Kursk region of Russia, Roman Starovoit, reported on his Telegram channel that one of the apartment buildings in Kursk was damaged as a result of a drone strike. According to him, windows were smashed on some floors. Also, “several windows in the building of the engineering faculty” of the Kursk State Agrarian University were damaged by the blast wave, the Russian official added.

As reported, on the night of August 26, the Russian capital, Moscow, suffered another drone attack. At that time, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that a Ukrainian “airplane-type” drone had been shot down in the Moscow region.

A day earlier, one of the most massive attacks with the use of UAVs against Russian facilities in Crimea was reported.

Also, the day before, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that it had shot down a missile launched by Ukraine over the Kaluga region, which borders Moscow. Moscow traditionally blames Kyiv for the attacks.

In contrast, Ukraine almost never publicly claims responsibility for attacks on Russian territory or on Ukrainian territory controlled by Russia, but in recent months it has claimed that the destruction of Russian military infrastructure helps Kyiv to counterattack.
