Landfill burns in Crimea, occupation authorities announce evacuation

A landfill is on fire in the Kirovsky district of Crimea, the so-called “head” of the Russian-annexed peninsula Sergey Aksyonov said on Telegram on Wednesday, July 19.

In this regard, the occupation authorities of Crimea announced the evacuation of residents of four settlements – more than two thousand people. According to Aksyonov, no one was injured in the fire. Its causes are still under investigation. At the same time, Russian Telegram channels report that the fire started at an ammunition depot.

Meanwhile, the spokesman for the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration (OMA), Serhiy Bratchuk, released two videos of the fire, captioning them: “Enemy BC (combat kit – Ed.) warehouse. Old Crimea”. Staryi Krym is a small historical town in the Kirovsky district of Crimea.

The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine (SBGS) also indirectly confirmed that an ammunition depot in Crimea was on fire. “A warehouse with BCs caught fire at the Starokrymsk landfill,” the service said in a Telegram post. The message is accompanied by several videos showing detonations in the fire zone.
