Large-scale drone attack on Ukraine overnight causes significant damage
On the night of March 31, Russian occupiers carried out a massive drone attack across several regions of Ukraine. Kharkiv suffered the most damage, where industrial facilities and civilian infrastructure were hit. In Zaporizhzhia, power networks were damaged, while Kyiv’s air defense forces successfully repelled the enemy raid.
Consequences of the overnight drone attack on Ukraine
In Kharkiv, five enemy UAV hits led to extensive destruction of a scientific-industrial enterprise and civilian infrastructure. According to Mayor Ihor Terekhov, the attacks began around 02:22 and continued until morning, with all strikes concentrated in the Kyivskyi district of the city. As Kharkiv City Council deputy Artem Revchuk reported on Espreso, the enemy employed new tactics: ‘Shaheds’ gathered in one location and began attacking in a compact formation.
As a result of the attacks, five industrial buildings of the scientific-production enterprise were damaged, causing a large-scale fire. Eleven high-rise buildings were affected, with about a hundred windows blown out by the blast wave. Two kindergartens suffered significant damage, with windows and frames blown out. Three men received minor injuries and declined hospitalization.
In Zaporizhzhia region, enemy attacks led to serious consequences for civilian infrastructure. According to Regional Military Administration head Ivan Fedorov, a high-voltage power line was knocked out, causing power outages in parts of Kushuhum settlement. Ten houses in dacha cooperative areas were also damaged. Energy workers are actively working to restore power supply.
Kyiv and its region successfully repelled a massive drone attack. According to the Kyiv City Military Administration, 49 enemy UAVs were detected during the night, of which air defense forces destroyed 11. Another 30 drones left the airspace, while the rest were lost to tracking. The air raid alert in the capital lasted over 5 hours – from 22:29 to 03:10 and from 04:14 to 04:51. Importantly, no casualties or destruction were recorded within Kyiv.
In the Kharkiv region, an attack was also recorded on the city of Derhachi, where a Shahed strike caused a grass fire covering 2,500 square meters. Kharkiv city authorities assure that all services are working coordinately to eliminate the consequences of the attacks and provide necessary assistance to those affected.
Russia continues its terrorist attacks against Ukraine, using drones to strike both military and civilian targets. Ukrainian air defense forces effectively counter the threat, but the invaders are still capable of inflicting significant damage to infrastructure and civilian population.
