Latvia admits Russians only after the condemnation of the Russian authorities, – the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation
The Russian embassy in Latvia claims that Russian citizens can cross the border only after signing a statement in which they disagree with the Kremlin’s aggressive policy.
The Embassy of Russia in Latvia announced the innovations adopted by the Latvian Border Service in relation to Russian citizens. Russians can cross the border only after signing a statement condemning the actions of the Russian authorities.
‘In case of refusal to do so, as practice shows, they may not only be denied entry, but may also be blacklisted,’ the embassy said.
As a reminder, on September 19, ban on the entry of Russians with tourist visas to Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland came into effect. The ban applies to holders of visas who received them for entry to other EU countries. As a result, citizens of the Russian Federation will not be able to enter the EU through these four countries, even if they want to transit through them.
Exceptions were made only for dissidents and holders of residence permits in these countries, employees of transport companies transporting goods, diplomatic missions, and those Russians transiting to and from the Kaliningrad region of Russia.
“Russians, do not try to cross the border, they are not waiting for you here, stop the war against Ukraine and get out of this beautiful country!” — Latvian Minister of Foreign Affairs Edgars Rinkevičs commented on the initiative.
