Lockheed Martin found a way to increase production of the M142 HIMARS to nearly 100 machines per year

Contractors received a hefty sum to speed up the supply of components.

Lockheed Martin has negotiated with its contractors throughout the supply chain to expedite the production and delivery of the necessary components for the production of the M142 HIMARS. The corporation wants to increase the production of such systems to 96 units per year, so it has already invested $ 65 million in speeding up the work of contractors.

This was stated by the CEO of Lockheed Martin, Politico journalist Lee Hudson (Lee Hudson) wrote on her Twitter.

It was previously reported that the US Army plans to purchase as many as 480 units of M142 HIMARS between 2024 and 2028. To fulfill such an order, US industry must supply 96 systems per year, with a minimum request of 120 M142 HIMARS, with a supply of 24 units per year.

If this request by the US military is implemented in full, the US Army will effectively double the number of HIMARS it has at its disposal. At the moment, there are ‘only’ about 600 M142 HIMARS and M270A1 missile systems in service.
