Lukashenko says Belarus is preparing for war

Self-proclaimed President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said on Tuesday, April 2, that his country is preparing for war, as it continues to strengthen its defense readiness.

He said this during a working trip to Hrodna, BelTA reports.

It is noted that Lukashenko took part in the ceremony of laying a capsule with a message to posterity at the site of the construction of a new city hospital in Hrodna. He noted that this event can be seen as a message to Belarus’ neighboring countries.

“We’re digging the same ground as they are, right next to the border. Only our goals are completely different. They are digging trenches, trenches against tanks and other things, increasing spending on shock weapons. And here, we spend two-thirds of the region’s budget on the social sphere – healthcare, education, culture, sports, and so on. We want to build our peaceful future. We are determined to create,” the Belarusian leader emphasized.

Lukashenka expressed his belief that Belarus does not want to fight, but is still preparing for war.

“Don’t believe anyone that we want to fight. We are preparing for war, I am speaking frankly about this. “If you want peace, prepare for war” – I did not invent this. This is a very good saying,” he said.

According to the self-proclaimed president, the necessary training of the relevant units is underway in Belarus, and various types of weapons and equipment are being supplied to the troops.

“If someone from an unfriendly country is whining and criticizing us, you should know that we are doing the right thing. If they start praising us, it’s a disaster. We don’t need to threaten anyone. We do not want someone else’s land. God willing, we’ll manage to cultivate it,” the Belarusian leader said.
