Mala Narew SAM successfully engages Szogun drones during tests (video)
The Polish military reported a successful test of the Mala Narew air defense system. They used Szogun aircraft as targets. They played the role of simulator aircraft.
Mariusz Blaszczak, who is the head of the Polish Defense Ministry, was present at the SAM test. The Minister was accompanied by the commander of the 18th Mechanized Division.
In total, the Polish military launched three drones as targets. They were successfully hit by British CAMM missiles.
Following the test, Blashchak announced that the new air defense systems would be put into service by the end of the month. The contract for the purchase of British CAMM missiles for the Mala Narew air defense system was signed by Warsaw in April last year. It amounted to USD 400 million.
The Polish air defense system consists of three echelons. Wisla, based on the Patriot surface-to-air missile system, is responsible for intercepting air targets at long distances. Mala Narew systems will intercept targets at medium distances. At short ranges, targets will be destroyed by Pilica+.
