May 9 without a victory parade, the occupiers are afraid to hold celebrations in Crimea

Russian authorities canceled a military parade in the temporarily occupied Crimea on Victory Day, May 9, due to the security situation. Russians are promised to hold celebrations and “commemorations” in other formats.

This was reported by the head of the occupied Crimea Sergey Aksyonov in his Telegram on Friday, April 19.

Cancellation of the military parade in Crimea

Aksyonov said that there are no plans to hold a military parade and march of the “Immortal Regiment” in Crimea on May 9. This is due to security issues.

“However, we will definitely pay tribute to our veterans, honor the memory of the fallen, and hold festive events in various formats. In a word, Crimea will celebrate Victory Day with dignity,” the occupation commander said.

In addition, the Russian media spread information that, in addition to the temporarily occupied Crimea, five other regions in Russia refused to hold a parade on May 9. These are the Belgorod, Bryansk, Kursk, Ryazan, and Pskov regions.

Earlier, the authorities in these regions expressed concern that the accumulation of military equipment and soldiers in Russian cities could allegedly provoke attacks by Ukrainian drones. They decided to hold such events online.

As a reminder, on the morning of April 17, explosions occurred at the Russian military airfield in Dzhankoy.

Six fires broke out at the airfield, killing 30 members of the Russian Aerospace Forces and airfield security. In addition, the occupiers lost a lot of military equipment, including the S-400 system.
