Men of conscription age will be able to refuse mobilization – a new bill has been registered in the Verkhovna Rada

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has registered a new draft law to allow persons liable for military service to refuse mobilization.

We are talking about the draft law on amendments to the Law of Ukraine “On Mobilization Preparation and Mobilization.” It aims to expand the possibilities of mobilization to military units and involvement of persons of military age in performing defense-related work that ensures the functioning of the national economy under martial law.

If the bill is passed, citizens liable for military service will be able to refuse to be mobilized into military units in writing on the grounds of religious or personal beliefs. To do this, you need to submit an application to the territorial center for recruitment and social support.

At the same time, it is possible to refuse to participate directly in hostilities, provided that such Ukrainians liable for military service are ready to join defense work and work to support the economy of our country. That is, to hold positions provided for by the wartime staff. You can read more about this in part. 5 Art. 22 of the Law of Ukraine “On Mobilization Preparation and Mobilization”. Such an assignment to perform community service can be obtained at the place of registration or in other regions (with the written consent of the person liable for military service).

However, this rule will not apply to officially employed citizens who receive at least 75% of the rate and entrepreneurs who pay taxes on time.

It should be noted that there are no guarantees that this bill will be passed.
