Mercedes-Benz will stop working in Russia directly. The German concern is looking for a buyer for the property belonging to the official distributor.
Mercedes-Benz can sell all property in Russia belonging to ‘Mercedes-Benz Rus’ – the official distributor of the concern.
The main contenders are Russian dealers, namely Panavto, Avtodim, Avilon and Major. If the deal goes through, the second most popular manufacturer of premium cars in Russia will stop working in the country directly.
According to one of the sources, the Russian distributor ‘Mercedes-Benz Rus’ is discussing the sale of its car warehouse and dealership through auctions. Previously, the company did not dare to sell off the existing stock of cars due to sanctions, and now it became known that the rights of a distributor in the Russian Federation may go to one of the dealers.
Another source said that in early July, employees of the company’s Russian office began ‘massively looking for work.’ However, they are not alone in this: earlier, Volkswagen offered employees of the plant in Nizhny Novgorod to voluntarily resign and promised to pay up to six salaries.
Mercedes-Benz has not yet confirmed the possibility of sale and asks to be ‘understanding’ about the lack of comments on future plans.
