Metal claws in the back: a robot at a Tesla factory malfunctioned and attacked an engineer
A Tesla robot pinned down a software engineer and injured him at one of Giga Texas’ plants near Austin.
This was reported by the Daily Mail.
Two witnesses said that their colleague, an engineer, was attacked by a machine designed to move newly cast aluminum parts of a Tesla car.
It is noted that the robot clamped down on a man who was working nearby with software for two inoperable Tesla robots, and then stuck its metal claws into the worker’s back and arm, leaving a “bloody mark” on the factory surface.
As a result of the attack, the engineer sustained an open wound on his left arm, according to the 2021 injury report. Although Tesla has not reported any other robot-related injuries at its Texas factory to regulators, the incident comes amid years of heightened concern about the risks of automated robots in the workplace, the publication notes.
